Upcoming Classic: Battle of Algiers

“The Battle of Algiers” is about the uprising that led to the end of the French occupation of Algeria. It won the Golden Lion Award at the Venice Film Festival in 1966, and was nominated for three Academy Awards. A 2012 poll of top critics by Sight and Sound, the magazine of the British Film Institute, placed it in at number 48 in the list of the world’s 250 best films.
