Promoting and strengthening the artistic and cultural development of Orange County, North Carolina
What models do children have for standing up to social justice issues? What social justice issues matter to students? How early is too early to introduce difficult subjects? Participants in this class will examine new children’s books, examining them in regards to issues of social justice and activism. Together we will analyze, discuss and compose a collaborative bibliography of new books on issues such as environment, gender, and racial equity books.
This 10-hour professional development session will earn teachers 1 CEU credit in Reading Methods. This course takes place at Susie Wilde’s home studio in Chapel Hill.
