Beginning Metalsmithing: Pendants or Earrings

Let’s learn the basic techniques of working with metal! We’ll begin by getting familiar with the jewelry studio, its tools and equipment, and the basic skills you need to begin working with metal.  We will work with copper and brass and do a skill building exercise using the jewelers saw and jeweler’s files.  Using these skills, we will saw and pierce a copper or brass pendant or earrings, learning additional texturing techniques with hammers and the flex shaft.  The workshops will also discuss patina and coloring of metal.

A basic studio fee of $15 will be paid to instructor at the first class.  Additional metal may be purchased at market cost depending on projects completed.

Please note:  Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
