Promoting and strengthening the artistic and cultural development of Orange County, North Carolina
Explore basic mindfulness techniques and unravel the mystery of centering clay on the potter’s wheel. Participants will be guided in breathing, attention setting, and connecting clay throwing to mindful movement practices. Like Tibetan Monks who create sand mandalas, we will focus our attention on the process. All clay will be reclaimed at the end of the workshop as a reminder that nothing is permanent.
Participants do not need to purchase a tool kit. Students will receive the customary bag of clay to continue their practice. During class we will use reclaimed clay from the ceramics studio’s supplies.
Tuition includes one bag of clay and covers glazes and firing fees, but not tools. Students may need to purchase a basic tool kit prior to the first class.
Students may attend the Ceramics Open Studio during the duration of your class and up to two weeks after class ends. Go to this link for more information.
