Lunch and Learn: Employment Law for Arts Organizations

April 2 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Are you an arts organization that is working with teaching artists, performers, contractors, and staff? Knowing who counts as an employee and what that means for your organization matters more than ever.
Join Daniel Palmieri, attorney specializing in labor and employment law with Wyrick Robbins, for this information session that covers the basics of worker classification, how to tell the difference between employees and independent contractors, and why misclassification can create real risks. He’ll also touch on key employer responsibilities, including wage and hour rules, anti-discrimination laws, and best practices for handling employee terminations.

Designed for arts administrators, managers, and nonprofit leaders, this practical session is approachable, and focuses on real-world scenarios common in arts organizations.

Bring your questions, there’ll be a presentation followed by time for Q&A, and leave with a clearer understanding of your responsibilities as an employer.

This free discussion is scheduled for Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 12-1:30pm via Zoom. Registration is required and Zoom details will be provided upon registration. The session will be recorded, but we encourage live attendance for those with specific questions.

Please be aware that our speakers will not be able to provide direct legal advice on specific situations. All questions answered and information provided will be of a general nature and does not create an attorney-client relationship with attendees.

This event is free as part of our Lunch & Learn Series. We appreciate any small donations at checkout. As a non-profit, your support helps us continue offering valuable programming like this to our arts community!
