Inspired by Junk Journaling, these handmade art journals consist of upcycled/recycled and found materials and ephemera. The pages can be used to write, draw, paint or record memories, thoughts, ideas, and inspiration. The finished artisanal book can become anything you desire. A junk journal in its simplest form is a handmade journal created using an eclectic mixture of various papers and ephemera. There are usually pockets, tuck spots and scraps of this-and-that clipped to the pages. Students will be guided through step-by-step instructions to create their own unique junk journal. Participants will not be be intimidated by any step in this journey–there is nothing here they can’t do. This art form uses a variety of bookwork skills, from hand binding techniques to origami and sewing.
