Figurative does not mean just figures! In this class, students will learn to paint forms derived from life, including landscapes, people, and objects. The class will be two weeks, and begin with an introduction to basic techniques such as color mixing, painting with a grid, and creating an underpainting. After these basics are covered, students will spend time painting in plein air, painting a portrait, and constructing their own still life to paint from.
-Old cup or jar to hold water
-Paper towel or a rag
*The set I linked to above would provide a good range of colours, but you can use whatever paints you have around the house too. If you are going to buy new paint, look for a paint that is labeled heavy body, because those will provide the best range of opacity for painting.
–Set of paint brushes (https://www.dickblick.com/products/blick-essentials-craft-value-brush-set/?clickTracking=true&wmcp=pla&wmcid=items&wmckw=06280-1309&gclid=Cj0KCQjwp4j6BRCRARIsAGq4yMGrqKJdj-2f6WRcTakDG2kNC-Cqu2k-KqpEOm7288kUZEeq78yOlkkaArAQEALw_wcB)
*feel free to use any brushes you can find around the house, the set I link to above is just a suggestion if you want to buy something new.
