Fiction Writing Workshop (Online)

This writing-intensive, learner-centered course will focus on generating, developing, and revising a story or section of a novel. Among topics covered will be how to write effective action, dialogue, description.  Ways to integrate flashbacks and utilize time.  Voice, tone, and theme.

About the instructor: Richard Krawiec designed and teaches Beginning, Intermediate Fiction Writing courses online for UNC-Chapel Hill.   He won the Excellence in Teaching Award for his work.

His 5 novels have been published to critical raves in the U.S. and France. Richard Krawiec’s first novel, Time Sharing (Viking Penguin) was reviewed by such luminaries as Michiko Kakutani & Richard Eder, and featured in Publisher’s Weekly Recommended List. His 3 most recent novels published in France have been highlighted at conferences and readings across France, and received excellent reviews from Rolling Stone, and L’Obs (the French equivalent of Newsweek), among others. His stories have been shortlisted for Best American Short Stories. He has received grants from the NEA, and the NC Arts Council (twice).

 

This class is conducted online! A computer with audio, video, and internet functionality is required. Student gives permission for The ArtsCenter and for instructor to use their image and comments in class recordings for promotional non-commercial purposes. Refunds and exchanges are not offered for online classes.
