Soldering, a technique used for thousands of years, employs heat and solder to join pieces of metal together. It is the most commonly used technique for joining metal. In this workshop, students will learn torch use and safety and some basic soldering skills such as sweat solder joins, butt solder joins and the use of sheet and wire solder. Students will make stacking silver rings and can add texture and small, bezel set stones with pre-made bezels.
Prerequisite: Beginning Metalsmithing: The Basics.
A studio fee of $12 plus an additional materials fee ($8-$35, based upon current market prices of metals) is due to instructor at first class.
