It’s a SPOOKTACULAR weekend in the OC! Here’s your Weekend Culture Fix from the Arts Commission:
The cool award this weekend go to Hillsborough Arts Council AND Alight Aerial Dance Theater. HAC is hosting a screening of Nosferatu (the original Dracula movie!) with LIVE MUSIC by Peter Estep and Billy Sugarfix! Tonight at 7:30pm at the Mason’s Lodge…only $10! Check out Alight’s The Spookfest (an aerial dance show) at The Flowjo tomorrow night and Sunday afternoon in Carrboro.
Art — Tonight is the opening reception at Hillsborough Gallery of Arts for the 22nd Annual Orange County Artists Guild Open Studio Tour, featuring selected artists from this year’s tour (which starts next weekend).
Live Music — In Carrboro: tonight at The ArtsCenter, Leo Kottke at 8pm. Tomorrow at 2pm is Jazz Saturday at The Station; tomorrow night, The Upward Dogs play 2nd Wind and acoustic singer/songwriter Renzo Ortegaplays Johnny’s Gone Fishing.
Tomorrow evening in Chapel Hill, The Dogwood Blossom Band will play Honeysuckle Tea House. Later tomorrow night, Vanna, Capsize and To The Wind play Local 506 and Michael Martin Band, Hardworker, Mona Dowell and Beautiful Mess play The Cave.
In Hillsborough: Tomorrow night Fireside Collective plays Mystery Brewing Public House, The Cryptics play Nash Street Tavern and Hot Tin Roof has its 4th Annual Halloween Bash featuring Hickory Switch and DJ Jason.
Theater — Hillsborough’s Burwell School will present “Behind the Scenes” at 2 & 5pm taking place throughout the Burwell house and grounds. Tickets are almost sold out, but more shows may be added Sunday. In #ChapelHill, The Scene Is Dead hosts an outdoor comedy show on the lawn of St. Anthony Hall tomorrow night at 8pm (costumes encouraged!).
Oh, and over in Raleigh, there’s GIANT BUNNIES at North Carolina Museum of Art.
