What’s happening in the OC? The big event this weekend (and next) and the Orange County Artists Guild‘s 22nd Annual Open Studio Tour. 82 artists at 66 locations all throughout the county (no wonder we have 2 weekends to do it all!). Hillsborough: Tomorrow check out a Holiday Craft Show & Salesponsored by the Orange County Department on Aging – OCDOA at Passmore Center, 9am-2pm. Hillsborough Arts Council is hosting a Book Signing with Shannon Moore Fitzgerald / Bold Moves Studio at noon.On Sunday, Eno Publishers is hosting Elizabeth Keckley Lived Here – a discussion about the confidante to Mary Todd Lincoln at the Burwell Schoolat 3pm. On Sunday, Nash Street Tavern has Pete Pawsey’s Sunday Funday at 4pm, then at 7pm, Beer & Hymns Hillsborough.
Tomorrow night, Live “folksy, jazzy, bluesy” music with Violet Bell at Mystery Brewing Company and Hip Pocket plays Hot Tin Roof.
Chapel Hill: It’s Homecoming for UNC! For those looking for something a little more low-key, check out Music on the porch, Art on the wall with Red Nucleus and photographer Barbara Tyroler as part of the Orange County Open Studio Tour. There’s also a Screening of CZECH film “Vinyl Generation” tomorrow at 7pm in Toy Lounge of Dey Hall. Tomorrow night there’s live rock/acoustic/country music at The Cave with ElecTrick LadyLand, Cosmic Country Band and Stephen Vincent. Feeling adventurous? Why not try out aerial dance at an intro class with Amanda Richardson at Triangle Yoga?
Carrboro: There’s live music all over Carrboro tomorrow night! From 7-9pm check out Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Dennis Cashat Johnny’s Gone Fishing and enjoy some old time string music. Later, Animal Collective (pictured) plays Cat’s Cradle (call first – might be sold out!) and Durty Dub plays 2nd Wind.Get your “electronic punk pop” fix with Cannonballz at Bowbarr or check out Elvis Division (Elvis lyrics, Joy Division riffs…interesting) at YesterYears Brewery.
