Vitamin O: Sara Stephens

“This is a place where people want to be,” says Sara Stephens when describing Hillsborough. “It’s not just the things we offer (visual and culinary arts, music, and greenways). It’s the people.” Sara is the chief executive officer of the Chamber of Commerce. Sara grew up in Hillsborough, walking after school from Cameron Park to the library her mother directed. Sara’s they were entitled to be helped on the land that is now Hardscrabble Plantation. Though ribbon cutting is a part of her professional life, Sara has no desire to cut the ribbon of time that stretches through her family from the past and into the future. Sara hopes that one hundred years from now, people will remember what she did to help shape the community and that she and her family were people who contributed.
