About:

Opened in 1992, Local 506 is an all-ages rock club in downtown Chapel Hill. The 506 is a showroom and a full bar, providing audiences the opportunity to see up-and-coming touring musicians and local bands in a simultaneously accessible and professional musical setting. Located on West Franklin Street, the 506 is conveniently within walking distance to many of Chapel Hill and Carrboro’s restaurants and bars, and a great location for either catching a show or enjoying a full night out in Chapelboro.

Parking:

Parking can be a bit tricky unless you’re familiar with the area. A helpful parking guide for Chapel Hill is here. In general, street parking is free after 6pm Monday-Saturday, and completely free on Sunday. Keep an eye out for UNC lots that are often free after 6pm as well. There is also a parking deck next to the Hampton Inn in Carrboro that is free and within walking distance to the club.

Membership Info:

In accordance with NC Law, memberships are required to attend shows at Local 506. Memberships are $2, available at the door the night of the show, and are good for life. A membership card is issued when purchased, and must be presented at the time of entry to the club (a picture on a smartphone will do just fine!). Over 21 members are welcome to have a guest, though under 21 members must each have their own membership. For more information about North Carolina’s membership laws, see page 12 here.

TL;DR: Because we serve liquor and not food we are required by NC to be a private club and charge for memberships (only $2, though). They’re good for life and you can have a guest as long as you’re over 21.

    Since they began jamming back in William’s Santa Clarita bedroom, Los Angeles indie band Together Pangea have continually challenged themselves with each subsequent offering. Jelly Jam poured the gasoline, Living Dummy struck the match, and Badillac lit the fire with its revved-up nineties rock-inspired flames. Along the way, fan favorites like “Sick Shit,” “Badillac,” and “Offer” would rack up millions of Spotify streams, while the group received support from Consequence of Sound, Pitchfork, MTV, Stereogum, and more. Following the 2015 release of The Phage EP, produced by The Replacements’ Tommy Stinson, these working class boys embarked on the journey to what would become 2017’s Bulls and Roosters, which evidenced their growth as a tried-and-true rock band with just the right amount of “brattiness,” as they like to say.   Together Pangea—William Keegan, Danny Bengston, and Erik Jimenez—return in 2021 having made the most of 2020’s turbulence by writing and recording DYE, an upbeat, undeniable collection of hooks, anthems, and power-pop garage-rock catchiness that is unmistakably the album of their career. DYE is an amalgam of the band’s last three records: the inward looking and self-pleasing experimentation of 2017’s Bulls and Roosters, the frantic and scream-y Badillac with its inspiration from emotionally raw grunge, and the 50’s pop heavy 2011 album Living Dummy.
