Exploring the labyrinth of the contemporary art world, The Price of Everything examines the role of art and artistic passion in today’s money-driven, consumer-based society. Featuring collectors, dealers, auctioneers and a rich range of artists, from current market darlings Jeff Koons, Gerhard Richter and Njideka Akunyili Crosby to one-time art star Larry Poons, the film exposes deep contradictions as it holds a mirror up to contemporary values and times, coaxing out the dynamics at play in pricing the priceless.
The Price of Everything premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and was produced by Jennifer Blei Stockman and Debi Wisch for Hot & Sunny Productions and Carla Solomon for Anthos Media. Lisa Remington and Kayla Malahiazar acted as co-producers. The film is edited by Sabine Krayenbühl, with additional editing by Phillip Schopper and Brad Fuller. Lensing is by Bob Richman and music is by Jeff Beal.
A panel discussion will follow with Ackland Art Museum Director Katie Zigler, arts patron Jimbo Parrott, and fine artists Jane Filer and Stacy Lynn Waddell. Moderated by Emily Kass, director of the Chelsea Theater.
Tickets are $8; $7 for Chelsea members and can be purchased here.
This event is co-presented by the Chelsea Theater and the Orange County Arts Commission.
