The Orange County Arts Commission, with support of the Board of County Commissioners, has announced a new Operational Support Grant Program to support local arts organizations in response to the devastating impact of COVID-19. The Board of County Commissioners approved $50,000 for the program on September 1, 2020, citing a need to support the nonprofit arts industry that contributes $130M annually to the local economy and employs approximately 4,000 residents.
“The arts are the heart and soul of our community. It is important that we support their creative efforts through these difficult times,” states Board of County Commissioners Chair Penny Rich.
The application period is Monday, September 7 through Friday, October 2 at midnight. The suggested maximum request is $5,000 for operational expenses including rent/mortgage, utilities, and salaries.
At this time, only organizations who meet the following criteria will be considered:
1. An Orange County, NC-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with an arts-based mission.
2. Have been in operation for at least three years.
3. Are not an entity of federal, state, or local government.
