2015 Piedmont Laureate James Maxey will read his Washington Science Fiction Association (WSFA) Award nominated short story “Silent as Dust” on the eve of Halloween (7-8 pm, Friday, October 30, 2015) in Hillsborough’s historic Burwell School (319 N. Churton Street). Set in Seven Chimneys, a sprawling, centuries old mansion in a small town in rural North Carolina, “Silent as Dust” is the story of Steven Cooper, the mansion’s newest ghost. When a baby is brought home to Seven Chimneys by the young married couple who’ve inherited the house, how far will Steven go in order to protect his peace and quiet? “Silent as Dust” is a spooky, atmospheric tale perfect for the season.
If you would like to attend this free event, please RSVP to the Orange County Arts Commission at arts@orangecountync.gov or 919/968-2011 by 5 pm on Friday afternoon, October 30, 2015.
