Promoting and strengthening the artistic and cultural development of Orange County, North Carolina
Join us and other area artists for our first virtual critique.
About this Event
Are you missing in-person critiques of your work during this time of social isolation? Even as some sectors of the economy open up, most critique groups in our area are still paused. Regular critical examinations of your work are important for artistic growth and development. Being pushed and questioned on artistic choices is invaluable as you build your art career.
This first critique will be casual and peer-to-peer. We will be conducting it as a zoom meeting, so you will be able to talk and see other participants. To join the critique, you’ll need to submit 3-5 images of ONE work you want to discuss in advance. Why are we asking you to submit photos? With variances in web camera quality, lighting and internet connections, live video images rarely offer the level of detail needed to view art. Read our photo submission tips below.
Who can join? This virtual critique is limited to visual craft artists. Artists at all career stages are welcome. If you have never participated in a critique, this is a chance to get direct feedback on your work and to provide your feedback to others. You can expect fellow artists to comment on all aspects of your work, including craftsmanship, finish, presentation, media choice and themes. If you’re new to critiques, be prepared that you might not like everything you hear – and that’s okay, too.
Directions to submit images are located on the digital links page after you register. (Free Eventbrite Account required)
