Best known for her work in the contemporary folk genre, Susan Werner’s talent as a songwriter and vocalist continually drives her to explore new styles. She first arrived on the national stage in 1995 when her major-label debut earned her tours with Joan Armatrading and Richard Thompson. Werner’s creative restlessness has become her defining characteristic – from her 1995 folk/rock gem Last of the Good Straight Girls, she went on to record Tin Pan Alley-style originals (I Can’t Be New), agnostic gospel (The Gospel Truth) a tribute to her Iowa farm roots (2013’s Hayseed) and Cuban-inflected compositions (2018’s An American In Havana). Werner’s live performance blends these varied styles into an unforgettable evening.
