Mending Matters: The Art of Fixing Your Clothes (Free class)

Mending your own clothes can give you a sense of taking genuine action to shrink your carbon footprint and empowers you to contribute to a solution to all the waste generated by the fashion industry. This class will help you learn the skills needed to mend your clothing and to do so in a creative way to help you to express your creativity in a new way through your clothing.

This class will focus on learning the techniques of Sashiko style mending, embroidery style mending, hand sewn patching, and sewing a button on. These are all hand sewing modalities and are being presented for students who wish to learn to sew, but have no sewing machine. Some familiarity with hand sewing is helpful, but not required.

This class is offered for free thanks to a grant from the Orange County Arts Commission.
