liberti & sladesign fashion-art show
handmade – one of a kind clothing
catwalk and music

December 13 at The Station / 201 East Main Street Carrboro 27510 6-9pm
December 20 at Smelt Art Gallery / 220 Lorax Lane Pittsboro, NC 27312 6-9pm

This collaboration between Ron Liberti & Marcela Slade includes, but is not limited to, silkscreens by Liberti sewn up by Slade, Liberti’s own tees, shirts and prints on paper and Slade’s other clothing such as skirts, dresses, shirts and accessories.

Although the two shows will be the same collection of clothing being exhibited by models in form of a “catwalk”, each show will be different because of the two different venues. Shadow shows and props to be expected in this non conventional fashion-art show! !! The liberti & sladesign collection will be available for purchase after each show and will remain on exhibit, as well as the Liberti prints on paper, at Smelt Art Gallery in Pittsboro until December 31st, inclusive.
(Smelt Art Gallery / 220 Lorax Lane Pittsboro, NC 27312)

Materials for this show were partly granted to Slade by the Orange County Arts Commission, others are recycled or upcycled materials locally sourced by donations, local venues or peoples.

Ron Liberti originally from New Jersey studied fine arts and film at Montclair State University and printmaking at Brighton Polytechnic in Brighton, U.K. Liberti came to Chapel Hill in 1991 to visit a friend. Energized by the local music scene, he began producing posters for his own bands and other touring artists such as Tift Merritt and Superchunk, as well as for film and art openings, such as this show!

Twenty years, hundreds of posters and many art endeavors later, Ron has become an integral part of the local art and music community. His work has been published in “Gig Posters” by Clay Harris and in “New Masters of Poster Design: Poster Design for the Next Century” by John Foster. A collection of Ron Liberti’s work is part of the Southern Folklife Collection at The Wilson Library at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
