As the capstone of the Hillsborough Gallery of Arts’ current show “It’s All About the Story,” Jaki Shelton Green will read her poetry in the gallery on Sunday, March 12th, 4-6pm. The reading will be followed by a reception and book signing. The event is free and open to the public.
Jaki Shelton Green is the ninth Poet Laureate of North Carolina, the first African American and third woman to be appointed as the North Carolina Poet Laureate. She is a North Carolina Literary Hall of Fame Inductee, and a 2003 recipient of the North Carolina Award for Literature. Jaki Shelton Green teaches Documentary Poetry at Duke University Center for Documentary Studies.
