Join Bill Rowe and Clermont Ripley from the NC Justice Center as they discuss your rights under the new unemployment benefits established by the CARES act and FFCRA. This free information session will cover the three new programs created from the CARES act: Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA), Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (PUC), and Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC). We will also cover new paid leave benefits created by the FFCRA, as well as options related to workplace health and safety concerns with reopening. There will be time for questions to be asked by attendees.

About the presenters:
Bill Rowe is General Counsel and Deputy Director of Advocacy at the Justice Center where his responsibilities include developing and implementing the Justice Center’s annual work plan; managing, supervising, and developing the agenda of the Policy Unit of the Justice Center; working with staff to fulfill the vision of the Justice Center and to develop and implement the Justice Center’s annual strategic plan and overall advocacy agenda; supporting Justice Center advocacy staff to ensure a comprehensive coordinated effort; and developing new projects and substantive areas in response to emerging issues.

Clermont Ripley is a senior staff attorney with the Workers’ Rights Project of the North Carolina Justice Center. Clermont joined the NCJC in 2007 after graduating from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was awarded the Powell Fellowship for Legal Services. As a Powell Fellow, Clermont advocated on behalf of H-2B seafood workers along North Carolina’s coast.
