Promoting and strengthening the artistic and cultural development of Orange County, North Carolina
Workshop Instructor: Pam Baggett
Chapel Hill Library, Meeting Room C
Do you have a poem that’s stuck, looking for a next move? Are you interested in writing longer, more expansive poems, though moving beyond one page or a single subject feels like diving deep into the Marianas Trench? Although the focus of this workshop is on revision, you are welcome to write new work as we look at style, voice, energy, imagery, and technique in complex poems by Tony Hoagland, Dorianne Laux, Al Maginnes, Pattiann Rogers, William Wright, and others. We’ll consider how to apply what we learn from their work to our own poems-in-progress, expanding and enriching them in the process. Note: This workshop is free and open to the public. However, Meeting Room C only holds 16 students. You’re advised to register in advance, since dropping in on the day of the workshop won’t be possible if there isn’t room.
