Promoting and strengthening the artistic and cultural development of Orange County, North Carolina
Floraffiti® is coming to Chapel Hill and Carrboro and we need Volunteer FloraGardeners!
So, let’s get dirty! Come dressed in comfortable clothes and close-toed shoes to garden. All tools, gloves, and materials will be supplied for ages 13yo and up. We will be planting words that have been selected from local environmental justice themed poetry workshops addressing the social-political challenges and inequities that are exacerbated by the climate crises and how it affects those most impacted by environemental justice.
FloraGardener Planting Dates:
Saturday, March 2nd 1pm-4pm, Starting at the Carrboro ArtsCenter
Sunday, March 3rd 1pm-4pm, Starting at the sidewalk street parking in front of the Morehead Planetarium
Rain or shine!
Please register below at the SignUp Genius link listed as “Website” to choose one or both days to plant.
After the Floragardening, and when the words have sprouted with their green foliage, there will be a sign at each site with a QR code printed on it. Anyone who visits the words can scan the QR code with their smartphone and listen to the poem recorded at the workshops. There will be a different poem at every site.
