“Social History of Cars” is a program of short films about cars (old cars), the people who sold them, and the people who drove them. Mostly from the 1950’s and mostly Chevrolet, these are vintage 16mm films from the collection of Durham Cinematheque. See a 1957 pickup climb Pikes Peak offroad! Observe the dynamics of the JP Mudrock family as they decide which car to buy! With television commercials and other bits of cinematic flotsam and jetsam, including short track stock car racing and speed trials on the sands of Daytona Beach.
