Opening Reception is held in conjunction with 2nd Friday ArtWalk: Friday January 10th 6–9pm.

There will be two additional 2nd Friday ArtWalk receptions:
February 14th and March 13 6–9pm.


Drawings by Marcela Slade are images inspired by fascinations and preoccupations of the Artist: politics, music, literature, God, death, time and love. Her style has been categorized as expressionism with an instrumentalist twist. All pieces are originals except for the two reproductions of a King and Queen. All are for sale!

Slade accepts commissions in various medias and sizes, even MURALS!


Slade studied Graphic Design (BFA) and Illustration (MFA) at the Savannah College of Art and Design. She currently lives in Carrboro with her husband and two beautiful boys. She works for Abundance NC Non-Profit as Event Coordinator and Curator, additionally she is on their Board. She is Coordinator and Curator of Smelt Art Gallery in Pittsboro as well as
Carrboro Town Hall and Century Center.

Slade also serves on the Orange County Arts Commission Advisory Board AT LARGE, teaches Art and Design classes at Carrboro’s ArtsCenter as well as privately AND.. . .just started teaching Fashion Illustration this Spring 2020 as Adjunct Professor at North Carolina State University / Wilson College of Textiles / Textiles and Apparel Technology and Management Department.

Aside from all that.. . .she likes to sew and has a fashion line called sladesign. She just had 2 fashion shows in collaboration with Ron Liberti and his amazing silkscreens! Some of those items are still for sale and can be viewed by appointment only.
