Crazy Italian Night

Eno House Movie Nights presents an original program of archival film clips – Crazy Italian Night is all about Italy and it’s pazzesco! Footage from the 1930’s to the 1970’s includes bits from travelogues and documentaries, plus a fractured narrative torn from a Sophia Loren feature (“Woman of the River,” d. Mario Soldati, 1955). It’s fun and educational – see waiters in a Roman restaurant dressed up as gladiators, and marvel at the colorful Joust at Arezzo. Also features ridiculous television commercials and other cinematic non sequiturs. Curated by Tom Whiteside from films in the collection of Durham Cinematheque, presented in 16mm.
