Now in its 24th season, Chapel Hill Dance Theater is celebrating the Ballet School of Chapel Hill’s 40th Anniversary by presenting “Rhapsody,” a repertory production with five original dances. They will be performed at the Auditorium at Carrboro High School, 201 Rock Haven Road, on Saturday, February 1st at 7pm and Sunday, February 2nd at 2pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students and seniors, and are available at the Ballet School of Chapel Hill, 1603 E. Franklin Street, as well as at the door.
M’Liss Dorrance has choreographed the romantic ballet Romanza to the operatic arias of Pavarotti. Diane Eilber has choreographed the contemporary Rhapsody, music by Gershwin, to continue the celebration. Julie Walters’ contemporary dance Munu Munu is a sumptuous reflection in white. Empowerment is Laci McDonald’s Latin Jazz piece celebrating powerful female bonds. Laurie Yeames celebrates our 40th Anniversary with the joyous Confetti.
Featured dancers include our graduating seniors Emily Huang, Jessie Weiss and Abby Zachary supported by a cast of talented young dancers from Durham, Chapel Hill, Hillsborough, and Pittsboro.
