Artists’ Talk: Grounded and Growing: Tales of our lives through wild pigments

December 8, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

With Jessica Almy Pagán, Cassandra Row, Shin-Yiing Yeung, Ekho Hower, Charla Rios, and Claire Alexandre

Hear from the artists behind Grounded and Growing: Tales of our lives through wild pigments, on display in the DeBerry Gallery at the North Carolina Botanical Garden through mid-December. To create the work in this exhibit, the artists of The Durham Palette used wild, local pigments from plants, soil, and fungi to explore their relationships with the environment. During the talk, the artists will share more about their individual pieces and their collective work process, how the Durham Palette got started, and how this sustainable practice has changed their relationship to the land and their artwork.
