Promoting and strengthening the artistic and cultural development of Orange County, North Carolina
This special performance brings together three powerhouses of old-time music for a night of collaboration, as Grammy nominee Alice Gerrard joins the banjo and fiddle duo of Allison de Groot and Tatiana Hargreaves. Allison and Tatiana are standouts in the next generation of Roots musicians, with de Groot known for her intricate clawhammer banjo work, and North Carolinian Hargreaves for her fiddle playing with Gillian Welch and Laurie Lewis. Recently, their rendition of Alice Gerrard’s “Beaufort County Jail” was included in Rolling Stone Country’s “10 Best Country and Americana Songs to Hear.” Alice Gerrard, celebrated bluegrass pioneer and perennial ArtsCenter favorite with her group the Piedmont Melody Makers, has won numerous honors including an International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Distinguished Achievement Award.
