Adrienne Tevis and Ray Reynolds met at the LA Ritz Carlton during a national competition for Acura service advisors. She works for Performance; he was at a Portland, Oregon dealership. It was a “fantasy trip” with swimming pools, fire pits, watching sailboats in the harbor, and “sleeping under the stars.” After a visit east to ensure they “liked each other in our day to day lives,” Ray sold his belongings, bought a car, and moved east 2.5 months later. Despite his reputation for not doing irrational things, he drove 44 hours through a snowstorm, traffic, and a flat tire sleeping only two hours along the way. The love story helped him avoid a speeding ticket in Utah. Adrienne makes Ray feel on any given day “like something crazy and incredible could happen.” The couple loves Orange County; he notes that people in Portland are “trying to live up to what someone hip and cool is supposed to do. Here they are just doing it.” Adrienne adds, “You don’t have to fit into a certain stereotype to fit in here.”
