Melody Kramer works in audience growth and development for Wikipedia, one of the world’s largest websites. “I can’t just think in English – I have to think about how changes to a website affect people across the globe.” She notes, “Depending on where you live, the way you get information about your world is radically different.”
Melody lived in big cities (Philadelphia, Chicago, New York, Boston, Hartford) for the last 15 years working in public radio. When she and her wife Abigail moved to Carrboro from Washington, DC, they expected it to be temporary. Now she says, “I think I’m a lifer…this is a nice way to live.” They found “…a community-oriented
place where people care about making the community better.” She admires Linda Convissor, UNC’s director of community relations, calling her the “community glue. Meeting Linda is like meeting 1000 other people.”
Melody and her wife lived above a Thai restaurant in DC and now hunt for the Triangle’s drunken noodle that most compares to their favorite version.
