Paint it Orange Plein Air Paint-out Winners Announced

The Orange County Arts Commission and the Orange County Arts Alliance are pleased to announce the winners of the 6th Annual Paint it Orange Plein Air Paint-out, which took place October 3-5, 2022, throughout Orange County. Sixty-six painters from four states participated in the painting completion, which was judged by award-winning plein air painter Jeremy Sams.

FIRST PLACE
Anilorac Farm by Lyudmila Tomova Clark of Cary, NC
Oil | SOLD
This painting displays a strong dark/light design. The diagonal lined breaking up the major light planes help tell the story of an active farm scene. It has excellent color harmony even with the use of highly saturated colors, which is a difficult task.

SECOND PLACE

View from RambleRill Farm by Galina Stockstill of Raleigh, NC
Oil | $300
A well balanced composition with the contrasting man-made objects and the organic layers of trees and foliage. An overall beautiful picture of the community.

THIRD PLACE

Peace, Love, Hillsborough by James Keul of Durham, NC
Watercolor | $750
I love the originality of this piece as it is a capture of an unusual setting that most would ignore. The handling of the medium gives a playful mood to the painting and accentuates the title.
