The OCAC and N.C. Arts Council present State of the Arts of NC and Orange County

Did you know that the nonprofit arts and culture sector is a $130M industry that employs 5,0001 full-time equivalent jobs in Orange County? Learn more about the impact of the arts on our local economy at this special event co-hosted by the Orange County Arts Commission (OCAC) and the N.C. Arts Council. The State of the Arts of Orange County and North Carolina will be held Thursday, October 5, at 5:30, at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro.

Presenters will include N.C. Arts Council Executive Director Wayne Martin, OCAC Director Katie Murray, and Rachel Ash, associate director of Arts Everywhere at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. A question and answer session will follow featuring survey coordinators Jeff York with the Town of Chapel Hill and Shannan Campbell with the Town of Hillsborough. The program portion of the event will take place from 5:30-6:30pm, followed by a reception in the gallery of The ArtsCenter.

Entertainment by Orange County artists will include a reading by Big Fish author Daniel Wallace, a 50 by 50 artist, celebrating the N.C. Arts Council’s 50th anniversary. Additionally, there will be a puppet performance by Tarish “Jeghetto” Pipkins, and a musical performance by Americana duo Tim and Susan Wells, in partnership with Music Maker Relief Foundation.

Refreshments will be served and a cash bar will be available. The event is free to attend and all are welcome!
