OCAC ANNOUNCES 2024-25 ARTS GRANTS RECIPIENTS  


The Orange County Arts Commission (OCAC) is pleased to announce recipients of the 2024-25 Grassroots Arts Program and Artist Project Grants. The OCAC awarded thirty-one grants to eleven artists or artist-groups and sixteen nonprofit organizations or schools, totaling $90,851.

2024-25 Grassroots Art Program Grant Recipients

  • Carrboro Elementary School: Carrboro Elementary 2024/2025 Cultural Arts Programming
  • Chapel Hill – Carrboro Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated: 3rd annual Orange – Chatham African American Cultural Festival
  • Chapel Hill Woodturners, Inc.: Operations Support for Chapel Hill Woodturners
  • Chapel Hill-Carrboro Public School Foundation: Original Composition for Smith Middle School 8th grade Band and Orchestra; Carrboro Elementary School Presents Peter Pan; Dare Coulter Visits Chapel Hill High School; Terrific Tundras; Visiting Native American Artist
  • Chelsea Art Theater Inc: Chelsea Theater Operating Support
  • Cosmic Rays Foundation: 2025 Cosmic Rays Film Festival- Filmmaker Honoraria and Operations Support
  • Ephesus Elementary School PTA: Supporting Translational Art and Artists at Ephesus Elementary
  • Estes Hills PTA: Estes Hills Elementary Cultural Enrichment Program 2024-25
  • Franklin Street Arts Collective (FRANK Gallery): Funding for FRANK Gallery’s Youth Art Group outreach program from 7/1/24 through 6/31/25
  • Human Kindness Foundation: Community Remembrance Exhibit Development; The Power of the Vote through the Arts
  • McDougle Elementary PTA: Cultural Workshops and Performances at McDougle Elementary
  • Musical Empowerment: Musical Empowerments Music Mentorship and Instruments Lending Programs 
  • MYCO (Mallarme Youth Chamber Orchestra): December concert/side-by-side chamber orchestra project in UNC Chapel Hill’s Moeser Auditorium
  • PlayMakers Repertory Company:  Developing new work and young artists
  • Prism Design Lab: ‘What is Architecture?’ Workshops in Orange County Elementary Schools
  • Sisters’ Voices: Rent Support for Sisters’ Voices Rehearsals, Programs, and Performances

  • Liza Wolff-Francis: EcoHopeful Poetry
  • Julia Fischer Green: Story Connection- Live Storytelling Classes and Performances
  • Shady Kimzey: Bad Art Club for All
  • Nerys Levy: The 2025 25th Mildred Council Annual Community Dinner Celebrating Cultural Diversity
  • Renzo Ortega: The Unforgettable Life Episode, A Self-Portrait Art Workshop for Youth
  • Marie Rossettie: Artists-in-Residence at LEVEL
  • Grace Siphlon: Blue Box Theatre’s “Cyrano” Set and Costumes

OCAC Arts Grants are annually funded by the North Carolina Arts Council, a department of the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, and the Orange County Board of County Commissioners.
