DESCRIPTION:Lindy classes take place every Tuesday of September from 6:15 to 9:15pm. No partner necessary.\n\nVia this listing\, students may purchase a pack of (4) one-hour classes good for the September Session. The class dates for that session are Sep 6\, 13\, 20 and 27. Any unused classes will not carry over to any following session. If you would like to start in the middle of a session\, please buy a single class pass at the ArtsCenter Box Office. \n  \nPlease include your class level in the comment section at checkout. \n  \n\nLindy 1 (Beginner): 6:15-7:15pm\n\n\nLindy 1 classes introduce technique and vocabulary in three class sections: 6-count focus\, 8-count focus\, and Charleston focus. Each section is four weeks long. Together\, these three focus sections constitute the beginning syllabus for students who are new to Lindy Hop or wish to refine their basics. Students may start any of these sections from scratch with no previous knowledge of Lindy Hop or partner dancing. After completing all three sections (in any order)\, students may progress to Lindy 2. \n\n\nSection A (6-Count Focus) Tuesdays\, Sep. 6-27\, 6:15-7:15pm \n\n\nSection B (8-Count Focus) Tuesdays\, Oct. 4-25\, 6:15-7:15pm \n\n\nSection C (Charleston Focus) Tuesdays\, Nov. 1-22\, 6:15-7:15pm \n\n\n\n\n\nLindy 2: 7:15-8:15pm\n\nIn Lindy 2\, students will learn to integrate the techniques and vocabulary covered in the Level 1 syllabus into comfortable and confident social dances\, be introduced to more classic Lindy Hop vocabulary and styling\, and continue to refine leading and following technique. Prerequisite: 3 sections of Lindy 1 (6-count\, 8-count\, and Charleston focus).\n\n\nLindy 3: 8:15-9:15pm\n\nIn Lindy 3\, we take a closer look at more subtle techniques for leading and following more complex movement patterns\, work on incorporating higher levels of musicality into the dance\, and apply a greater focus to personal movement\, rhythm and footwork. He also contributed to much of the soundtrack. Improv provides all kinds of benefits: learning how to deal with anxiety in social or group settings\, how to work (and play!) with others\, and how to tap into your deep wells of creativity. \n\nThis class is perfect for teens who:\nHave never taken improv and want to give it a try\nHave done improv or acting and want to up their game on stage\nHave thought about public speaking or acting or performing and want to dip their toes in the water\nJust want to be learn some skills to be more comfortable and confident in social situations\n\nNo experience necessary for this afternoon of fun\, games and laughter in a no-pressure environment. \n  \nInstructor Bios: \nAnoo Tree Brod is an award-winning actress and speaker\, performing with Transactors Improv Company\, Danny Canoe\, as well as guest roles in other improv companies in the Triangle. In addition to performing on stage and in film\, she teaches improv in various locations throughout the U.S. to corporations\, organizations and individuals who want to enhance leadership and communication skills in creative and unique ways. She recently became an adjunct Professor at UNC’s Kenan Flagler School of Business teaching Applied Improv to Masters of Accounting students. She also produces\, directs and does stand up comedy! Give her a mic and a stage and she’s happy. \nJeff Merron has been a journalist and a professor of Journalism and Mass Communication at Elon and the State University of West Georgia. He has also taught part-time at UNC and the New School. He’s been a serious improviser for six years and has taught improv for the past two years. \n  \nMasks must be worn at all times. In addition to performing on stage and in film\, she teaches improv in various locations throughout the U.S. to corporations\, organizations and individuals who want to enhance leadership and communication skills in creative and unique ways. She recently became an adjunct Professor at UNC’s Kenan Flagler School of Business teaching Applied Improv to Masters of Accounting students. She also produces\, directs and does stand up comedy! Give her a mic and a stage and she’s happy. \nJeff Merron has been a journalist and a professor of Journalism and Mass Communication at Elon and the State University of West Georgia. He has also taught part-time at UNC and the New School. DESCRIPTION:Transactors Improv celebrates Valentine’s Day a little late this year with Love Rollercoaster\, a musical about the ups and downs of romantic love. Featuring completely improvised scenes and songs based on audience suggestions\, the show will feature five episodes about the euphoria and despair of amour. \n\n\n\n\n\n“Love shows are a Transactors tradition\,” says company director Greg Hohn. “It’s our favorite subject because the stakes are so high. We’ve even had a real-life marriage proposal take place during one of our performances!” \n\n\n\n\nThe longest-running improv theater in the South has always prided itself on incorporating music into its shows and staged its first full-length musical in 1999. We gotchu. \nQuick\, shortform scenes and games make up the meat of this show\, and don’t worry an (optional) dance break mid way through will help the kids shake out the sillies and help the adults add to their fitbit steps! \nWhether you are flying solo or can’t wait to get the family out of the house after stuffing your faces over the Holidays\, this show is perfect for all ages who are craving some wholesome laughter and inspiration. \nWe’ll take your suggestions and make up scenes on the spot\, fully improvised and highly ridiculous. \nThe cast includes longtime improvisors Jane Allen Wilson\, Juliet Kaplan and Director\, Anoo Tree Brod. \n  \nWe will require all audience members to wear masks and have options set up for social distance seating. DESCRIPTION:PLEASE NOTE:   You may now register in advance for a month’s worth of swing (either online or through our Box Office).  However\, to buy a single class\, you must purchase at the Box Office shortly before the class begins.  Check Swing flyers available near The ArtsCenter box office\, or contact Richard Badu at 919-724-1421 or rbadudance@gmail.com for specific information on monthly classes since the class content or level may change. \nNo partner necessary. \n  \nLindy Hop—was originally the energetic form of partnered swing dancing that began in Harlem in the late 1920s and continues to thrive today.  Lindy works well with big band or jazz and can be danced to slower music as well.  It takes a bit longer to get started as the basic is technically more difficult for both the Leader and the Follower\, but the result is worth it as this dance has many fun variations. \n  \nLindy Charleston (to distinguish it from 20’s Charleston)- ever see people on the dance floor doing Charleston and want to dance like that? Learn Front and Tandem Charleston Variations and add them to your Lindy repertoire or East Coast Swing! \nLindy classes take place every Tuesday of the month\, unless otherwise noted. Beginner\, intermediate\, and advanced level courses start at 6:15pm\, 7:15pm\, and 8:15pm\, respectively. Students may sign up for a month’s worth of classes online\, or drop in for a single class by purchasing a ticket at the front desk for $13. \n  \nLindy 1 (Beginner)\nLindy 1 classes introduce technique and vocabulary in three class sections: 6-count focus\, 8-count focus\, and Charleston focus. Each section is four weeks long. Together\, these three focus sections constitute the beginning syllabus for students who are new to Lindy Hop or wish to refine their basics. Students may start any of these sections from scratch with no previous knowledge of Lindy Hop or partner dancing. After completing all three sections (in any order)\, students may progress to Lindy 2.  \n  \nSection A (6-Count Focus) Tuesdays\, Jan 7th-Jan 28\, 6:15-7:15pm. \nSection B (8-Count Focus) Tuesdays\, Feb 4th-Feb 25th\, 6:15-7:15pm. \nSection C (Charleston Focus) Tuesdays\, Mar 3rd-Mar 24th\, 6:15-7:15pm. \nSection D (Bonus/Special Topic) Tuesday\, Mar 31st\, 6:15-7:15pm. \n  \nLindy 2 (Intermediate)\nIn Lindy 2\, students will learn to integrate the techniques and vocabulary covered in the Level 1 syllabus into comfortable and confident social dances\, be introduced to more classic Lindy Hop vocabulary and styling\, and continue to refine leading and following technique.  \nPrerequisite: 3 sections of Lindy 1 (6-count\, 8-count\, and Charleston focus). \nTuesdays\, 7:15-8:15pm \n  \nLindy 3 (Advanced)\nIn Lindy 3\, we take a closer look at more subtle techniques for leading and following more complex movement patterns\, work on incorporating higher levels of musicality into the dance\, and apply a greater focus to personal movement\, rhythm and footwork. \nPrerequisite: 9 months of Lindy instruction and permission of the instructor. \nTuesdays\, 8:15-9:15pm \n  \n15% discount for month passes for members and UNC students. \nSingle Classes must be purchased at the door and are not subject to the member discount. \nPlease include your class level in the comment section at checkout. \nAll ArtSchool Swing & Lindy month long registrations have a $2 processing fee added upon check-out. \nArtsCenter members receive 15% off the cost of this course! \n\n\n	Related
