Energized by the local music scene\, he began producing posters for his own bands and other touring artists such as Tift Merritt and Superchunk\, as well as for film and art openings\, such as this show! \nTwenty years\, hundreds of posters and many art endeavors later\, Ron has become an integral part of the local art and music community. His work has been published in “Gig Posters” by Clay Harris and in “New Masters of Poster Design: Poster Design for the Next Century” by John Foster. A collection of Ron Liberti’s work is part of the Southern Folklife Collection at The Wilson Library at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. \nhttps://www.ronlibertiart.com \n———————— \nMarcela Slade is a local artist\, designer\, curator and teacher based in Carrboro\, NC. She is a US-Colombian with additional multi-cultural background. \nSlade has had several fashion shows locally as well as internationally since 2007. Some of the local venues include\, Carrboro Greenspace\, Cat’s Cradle\, Southern Rail Beer Garden\, The Station\, The Cotton Room & Gallery 100 at Golden Belt and the Carrack Modern Art. \nsladesign fashion shows are designed and produced for the venue by Slade. After the show the collection is on display to view and purchase\, shadow shows and surprise elements are sladesign fashion show trademarks. \nAll of the sladesign collection is designed and produced by Slade. Each piece is handmade and one of a kind. Slade also works by commission\, wedding dresses\, flower girl dresses\, costumes\, skirts for special occasions or blazers… \nSmelt Art Gallery is curated and coordinated by Slade\, as well as the walls of Carrboro Town Hall and the Century Center. Slade teaches Art and Design at the ArtsCenter and privately in her home/studio. She is also an event coordinator for the non profit\, Abundance NC\, with events such as PepperFest\, Death Faire and Think Again Series\, in order to help cultivate local community resilience. \nSlade has a BFA in Graphic Design and MFA in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
