DESCRIPTION:Luna Lee Ray – Saturday\, Jan 29\, 10am-2pm (In Person)\nThis workshop is an easy\, fun introduction to the art of printmaking. Using a gelli plate\, we will make both black and white and color monoprints\, exploring a variety of ways of making textures\, patterns\, and simple imagery. The results can stand alone\, or also make beautiful and unique collage material. \nSuitable for all levels. \nMATERIALS LIST : \n\nOne 6” x 6” Gelli plate- best price/availability on Amazon\nBrayer: one Speedball deluxe 4″ soft rubber brayer – also from Amazon. Jerry’s and AC Moore SOMETIMES have these in stock.\nPalette knife\nPaper towels\nWater jar\nAny rubber stamps you might have\nOptional: Textured fabric\, string\, bubble wrap\, etc…anything that might make an interesting texture.\n\nThere is also a $10. Materials fee for this workshop\, paid in cash to the instructor. I will be providing ALL the inks for printing and plenty of paper…though if you have any papers you want to try printing on feel free to bring them. \n  \nInstructor Bio: \nLuna Lee Ray received her BFA from the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland\, Oregon in 1988\, in printmaking. SUMMARY:Beginning Film Photography: Black and White
DESCRIPTION:Bielawski – Sundays\, May 9-30\, 1-2:30 pm (In-person)\n  \nIn this four-session course\, we will learn to operate a film camera and to expose film properly for light with shutter speed and F-stop. We will focus on composition techniques and study the work of other important photographers including Walker Evans\, Sally Mann\, Henri Cartier-Bresson\, Robert Frank\, and An-My Lê among others. This is a composition class\, not a darkroom one! Negatives will be developed and printed outside of class so that we can focus on developing the photographic eye. Prior experience with film photography is welcomed\, but not at all required. \n  \nAbout the Instructor: \nMorgan Bielawski is a writer and photographer from Northern California. She honed her photography skills at Bard College in Upstate N.Y. with professors Stephen Shore and An-My Lê; there she developed a passionate interest in film photography. Morgan writes primarily short stories and nonfiction; her work has been published in The Documentarian\, Lux\, and Sui Generis. She also translates stories and poems from Russian and Middle English to (Modern) English. Morgan has a BA in Written Arts\, and two academic concentrations: one in film photography\, and another in Russian. In her spare time\, Morgan plays and records American folk music and looks after her two fish. \n  \nMaterials \n– A 35mm film camera with a lens (fixed focal length of 50mm or 28mm is best\, but variable lenses are welcome too) \n– Ilford xP2 400 speed black and white film (1 roll of 36 frames required\, more are encouraged!) You can buy film here. \n– A light meter if your camera does not have one built in. \n  \nFees \n– Development and printing fee: $25 per rolls of film. DESCRIPTION:Love the Scrap Exchange or rummaging through junk shops? Create an art object with all of those treasures. Learn to assemble 3-D objects with mixed media collage to create shadow boxes\, shrines\, trays\, or story boxes. Similar to collage\, assemblage art is a form of sculpture comprised of “found” objects arranged together. These objects can be anything organic or man-made. Scraps of wood\, discarded metal parts\, kids plastic toys\, paper\, buttons\, keys\, door knobs\, aquarium plants\, you name it… you can use it.
