SUMMARY:GENDER IN COFFEE DOCUMENTARY SCREENING
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of Women’s History month\, Carrboro Coffee Roasters (CCR) is hosting a “Gender In Coffee” documentary screening to support the Partnership for Gender Equity Equal Origins program. The documentary follows the path of coffee from a smallholder farmer household in Chiapas\, Mexico into the roasters and cafes where it is enjoyed. This film provides an intriguing look into this issue that is taking on more and more prominence in the industry\, and among consumers\, as crucial to supporting coffee farmers and farming in the future.Come to the training room at Open Eye Cafe on Friday\, March 29 from 6-7:15pm to see the film. We’ll be serving up pour-over coffees from some of our women-owned farms\, including Anabella Meneses’ Santa Felisa Estate “La Rosa” and other surprises!\nCCR is one of the initial supporters for the CQI Partnership for Gender Equity. The Partnership for Gender Equity’s work is based on “data which indicates that achieving gender equity in the coffee value chain is both the right thing to do for people and the smart thing to do for business.” \nScott Conary\, owner of Carrboro Coffee Roasters\, said\, “the Equal Origins program is a perfect fit with the mission statement and actions of our company. The importance of equality cannot be overstated\, and working with this program will allow us to broaden our impact for true sustainability thru equal access and support. The sponsoring companies coming together to support this equity in supply chains will bring added exposure for the Partnership for Gender Equity program\, and then the program bringing those tools to bear on the communities that need them\, will be a meaningful step in the right direction. The impact of gender equality doesn’t stop with the empowering of women; but through them can be far reaching\, extending to children & families\, and then spreading out to the communities at large.” \n\n\n	Related
