DESCRIPTION:The first of the Cedar Ridge High School International Baccalaureate Senior Art Student Shows\, featuring work by Lee Lyons and Ariel Blanchard. \nFrom Lee:\nInspired by the viewer-centric philosophy of the Neo-Dadaists\, my body of work was created as an opportunity for self-exploration on the part of the viewer. Using papier collé as my medium to express my take on the human experience\, I created artworks that encapsulate what it means to reflect upon one’s role in both the natural and manmade worlds. \nFrom Ariel:\nMy collection of art will explore different surrealist ideas. I was inspired by the early Surrealist movement along with artists such as Max Ernst\, René Magritte\, and Salvador Dali. The focus is on the exploration of parts of the human body through a surrealist lens. \nShow runs February 15 through March 5\, with a public reception during the February Last Friday Art Walk\, Friday\, February 24. \nThis show will be followed with a 2nd showing of work from senior Cedar Ridge High School senior IB art students\, Kendall Criffield and Eva Charbois\, from March 8 through March 26. \nThere are two more senior art students showing their work at the Hillsborough Arts Council. \n\n\n	Related

DESCRIPTION:Release From Within is an introduction into art journaling using mixed media and a variety of techniques. Participants will discover the benefits of journaling and create their own journal using the Japanese Stab binding technique. \nBy the end of class\, participants will have a 10-page 9×12 journal with at least one completed page inside. They will have acquired experience using different methods of applying paint\, creating texture and simple collage. \nThey will also have gained the confidence and freedom to write (and create) without fear. This opens the door for future exploration within their journals to continue to express themselves visually. Lastly\, they will have fun! \nInstructor: Art Educator Maria Geary\nA local art educator\, Maria Geary has significant experience teachIng high school and younger students\, providing them with art skills\, and a\nsense of accomplishment and capability.
