DESCRIPTION:Winter is a wonderful time to celebrate the season: Snow gently falling on evergreen trees . . . Families ice skating on a frozen pond . . . Children making snowmen on a crisp winter afternoon . . . Steaming mugs of hot chocolate enjoyed by a glowing fire . . . Gaily wrapped presents beneath the Christmas tree. All of these images make beautiful collages ~ images that could be turned into unique holiday greeting cards. \nWorkshop leader Nancy Ellen Walker will share a variety of collage techniques\, and will demonstrate steps for creating a successful collage from a photo or imagined image. \nNo art experience is necessary. Materials will be provided\, but additional materials make the experience more fun. So\, if you wish to contribute\, you may bring interesting papers such as scraps of wallpaper or wrapping paper; magazines to cut up; ribbons\, colorful tape\, feathers\, buttons\, yarn . . . or anything else you might like to use in your creative process\, or to share with others. Also consider bringing a favorite photo of the season that you can re-create as a collage. \n$49 for 2 hour session\, all materials supplied. DESCRIPTION:Using random texts from old books or magazines\, we select words that resonate for us. These words can be used to create a prose-poem or inspirational message. We then either black out the remaining words\, or use doodling to isolate our chosen words. \nWhile the Instructor will have pages with text to work on\, students are encouraged to bring pages they enjoy such as old cookbooks\, dictionaries\, poetry. The instructor will supply examples and handouts on simple doodle and “tangle” patterns\, as well as stencils students can use for page decoration. Students are encouraged to look at examples of “Blackout Poetry” on Pinterest to spark ideas for their own work.  \nInstructor Jillian Goldberg taught art at all levels for over thirty years. Since retiring ten years ago\, she has been painting and showing work in group and solo shows in the region. She continues to explore new media and techniques\, attending workshops and visiting museums on her travels.\nAbsolutely no art experience is required. DESCRIPTION:Students will be given a successful formula to prepare acrylic paint for use in acrylic pours. Examples will be shown and the uncontrolled aspects of the pours will be discussed. Two pour techniques — swipe and swirl — will be demonstrated at the beginning of the workshop. Then students will explore and create three of their own acrylic pours (one 8” x 8”\, one 5”x 4” and one 4” x 4”) to take home and marvel over! It is quite addictive and fun\, some even find it relaxing. \nNo prior experience required. Exploring Acrylic Pours I is NOT a prerequisite. All materials supplied.
