DESCRIPTION:This class is a lively introduction to the art of acrylic painting for children and pre-teens age 9 to 12. First\, participants will be introduced to acrylic painting materials and techniques. Then they will create their own simple masterpieces on an 11×14 inch canvas. All supplies are included.  \nParents and/or caretakers will be asked to remain on the premises\, or to leave a cell number at which they can be reached in case of emergency. DESCRIPTION:Winter is a wonderful time to celebrate the season: Snow gently falling on evergreen trees . . . Families ice skating on a frozen pond . . . Children making snowmen on a crisp winter afternoon . . . Steaming mugs of hot chocolate enjoyed by a glowing fire . . . Gaily wrapped presents beneath the Christmas tree. All of these images make beautiful collages ~ images that could be turned into unique holiday greeting cards. \nWorkshop leader Nancy Ellen Walker will share a variety of collage techniques\, and will demonstrate steps for creating a successful collage from a photo or imagined image. \nNo art experience is necessary. Materials will be provided\, but additional materials make the experience more fun. DESCRIPTION:The Hillsborough Arts Council\, in partnership with Margaret Lane Gallery\, is offering this workshop designed both for artists who are new to displaying their work and for those who wish to refine their skills and learn new tips and techniques for more successful displays. Participants will leave with an understanding of the key considerations and steps in setting up and displaying their artwork at fairs\, festivals and shows. SUMMARY:Blackout Poetry Workshop with Jillian Goldberg
DESCRIPTION:Using random texts from old books or magazines\, we select words that resonate for us. These words can be used to create a prose-poem or inspirational message. We then either black out the remaining words\, or use doodling to isolate our chosen words. \nWhile the Instructor will have pages with text to work on\, students are encouraged to bring pages they enjoy such as old cookbooks\, dictionaries\, poetry. The instructor will supply examples and handouts on simple doodle and “tangle” patterns\, as well as stencils students can use for page decoration. Students are encouraged to look at examples of “Blackout Poetry” on Pinterest to spark ideas for their own work.  \nInstructor Jillian Goldberg taught art at all levels for over thirty years. Since retiring ten years ago\, she has been painting and showing work in group and solo shows in the region. She continues to explore new media and techniques\, attending workshops and visiting museums on her travels.\nAbsolutely no art experience is required.
