DESCRIPTION:Abstraction of Form and Figure is the second of two two-person shows of work by Cedar Ridge High School International Baccalaureate Senior Art Students at the Gallery. Opening reception March 25\, 6-9 pm during Hillsborough’s Last Friday Art Walk. Show runs through Apri 17\, during normal Gallery hours. \nFrom the students: \nAaron Frazier “My intention with my work is to show the representation of humanity’s effect on the earth and each other. The 2 main figures shown throughout most of my artwork promote this message. The purple demonic figure is a representation of the earth\, something that is still alive but treated poorly. The yellow humanoid is a representation of the evils in humanity\, greedy and self-serving. In my depiction of the two figures\, they have a distinctive juxtaposition that echoes the unbalanced relationship between the earth and humanity.“ \nHannah Shinnick “My works depict a representation of form or shape. Influenced by contemporary and Abstract Expressionist art\, all of my works aim to focus on eye-movement\, color\, and texture\, symbolizing a visual and harmonious journey art can take through repetition of color and forms. Donations to the initiative have also been made by several area businesses and individuals.\n• Opening for Local Landscapes by Local Artists. Take a tour of downtown Hillsborough and the surrounding countryside – all in the cool air of the Gallery! DESCRIPTION:June’s Last Friday brings special events all over Downtown and West End Hillsborough – including at Margaret Lane Gallery! We will have art\, live music\, and live poetry/spoken word: \nART:\n• TWO art shows:\no StoryLines\, Art That Tells a Story\, features art from local artist illustrators including Kevin Flynn Bell\, Michi Doan\, Eliza Murphy\, and Barbara Younger\no Hannah’s Hope\, honoring the memory of Hannah Gettes\, features Hannah’s art\, and art from friends who remember her. Representatives from the Art Therapy Institute of Carrboro and NAMI Orange County are expected to be present.\n• Three more gallery rooms and a whole 2nd floor full of work from over 30 local artists.\n• Conversation with local artists – we expect a number of the artists with work in the gallery will be present\, ready to discuss their work\, inspiration and process.\n• Free art packets for children (up to the age of 99+ … ) – pollinator cut outs in celebration of Pollinator Week. \nLIVE MUSIC:\n• Tim Wells and the Rhythm Aces (Cajun dance music) will be playing on the front lawn. \nLIVE SPOKEN WORD:\n• Will Davis (Endless Will) and his colleagues will be performing on the front lawn\, courtesy of the Hillsborough Arts Council. \nPlus light refreshments and good company inside and out. \n\n\n	Related

DESCRIPTION:Please join us at the Gallery as we celebrate the Town of Hillsborough’s Last Friday Art Walk with art\, music and poetry: \nArt: \n• Reception for On the Road\, Again featuring art from local artists that celebrates the reopening of the country. Show opens May 26 and runs through June 20.\n• Reception for Land of Imagination\, digital art from Kevin Flynn Bell and Michi Doan. Show runs through June 13.\n• Artwork from over 30 local artists working with a wide variety of themes\, styles and mediums.\n• Conversations with local artists – we expect a number of artists with work in the gallery will be coming through\, ready to share their work and discuss inspiration and process \nMusic: \n• Tim Wells with the Hillsborough Hi-Toppers will be playing on the front lawn throughout the evening! Grace Camblose – guitar\, banjo\, vocals; Greg Hanson – fiddle and vocals; Tim Wells – fiddle\, banjo\, vocals\n• We also expect\, courtesy of the Hillsborough Arts Council\, a visit from Tramaine\, a local musician with guitar and vocals \nPoetry: \n• Will Davis (also known as Endless Will\, our former poet laureate!) and colleagues will be performing original poetry on our front lawn\, courtesy of the Hillsborough Arts Council. \nAnd be sure to enjoy the other events all over town – it promises to be a great evening! \nFriday\, May 28 from 6 to 9 pm – downtown and west end\, Hillsborough\, NC \nPlease note: we require that masks are worn inside the Gallery regardless of vaccination status. SUMMARY:Hannah's Hope
DESCRIPTION:A unique exhibit of art by Hannah Gettes\, a former Orange County school graduate. Hannah was a beloved and bright young lady who tragically lost her life in February after wrestling with anxiety and substance abuse. It is the hope of those who love and cherish Hannah that this gallery show will not only honor her talent and love for art\, but might also shine helpful light upon this epic crisis in young adults.  \nSome current Orange County school students will also exhibit work\, and The Art Therapy Institute of Carrboro will serve as a resource during the opening reception. \nIn addition NAMI Orange County will provide information and copies of Finding Hope: A Practical Guide For Families Affected by Mental Illness Drawn From the Experience of Families Like Yours\, by Donna Kay Smith in collaboration with Susan Spalt\, will be available.  \nShow runs June 16 to July 11\, with a reception on Friday\, June 25\, 6-9 pm.
