SUMMARY:“Hello\, I’m Johnny Cash” presented by David Burney
DESCRIPTION:Attention Patrons\, \nDue to the increase of the Delta Variant and the danger it poses\, we are writing to let you know that starting October 1st\, 2021\, in additional to masks\, proof of vaccination will be required for all attendees of in-person performances at the ArtsCenter. \n  \nDavid Burney\, lead singer for the acclaimed Johnny Cash tribute band Johnny Folsom 4\, brings his one-man show to The ArtsCenter for two shows\, April 29-30\, 2022. \nIn “Hello\, I’m Johnny Cash” Burney shares an intimate portrayal of the Man in Black’s life story from growing up in Dyess\, Arkansas to his final days after the death of his beloved June Carter. From his early years at Sun Records\, to his world-famous prison concerts and television show\, to the unexpected success of the American Recordings albums and MTV videos at the end of his career — Burney tells the story of Johnny Cash through anecdotes and\, of course\, the songs the whole world knows and loves. \nWhat are others saying about David Burney’s portrayal of Johnny Cash: \nNo Depression magazine says: “for those of us unable to have seen Cash perform during his life\, this is more than a treat. It’s a time machine.” \nRobert Nash\, Executive Director of the Cultural Center of Cape Cod says “I loved every minute of it. It was so believable I thought I was listening to Johnny Cash.” \nRebecca Newton\, Director of the Carolina Theatre of Durham says: “From the time he takes the first step on the stage to the last word and gesture of his show\, David commands the stage and honors Johnny Cash with all the respect Mr. Cash deserves.” \nAnd Jackie Cash\, Johnny Cash’s niece\, says “Oh my Lord! He’s channeling J.R.” \n  \nDue to the increase of the Delta Variant and the danger it poses\, we are writing to let you know that starting October 1st\, 2021\, in additional to masks\, proof of vaccination will be required for all attendees of in-person performances at the ArtsCenter. \nThis was a difficult decision to make\, however given the risks that the new variant poses to the health of the community\, we believe this organizational mandate is the most sensible measure for the safety of the community. \nAll attendees are required to wear a mask or face covering at in-person shows. \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:Del Amitri
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Cat’s Cradle\n\nAll attendees must show proof of vaccination from Covid-19. \n\n\nMasks to be worn at all times except when drinking in the lobby. \n\nWednesday\, April 20 \n\n\n7 door / 8 show \n\n\n$29.50 adv / $35 day of show \n\n  \nAlmost two decades on from their last album\, Del Amitri easily remember the good old days\, when a Glasgow indie band “who never really cut it as Orange Juice and Josef K copyists\, which is kinda what we were” became\, in effect\, overnight successes. Fatal Mistakes is their first collection of new songs in 18 years\, and it’s the brilliant sound of a 35-years-young recording band settling into what they do best: melodic rock songs with lyrical bite\, soulful comfort\, heart-swelling uplift and the occasional just-the-right-side-of-gnarly guitar solo. \n  \nLinks: Website | Instagram | Twitter | Facebook | Spotify | Youtube \n  \nDue to the increase of the Delta Variant and the danger it poses\, we are writing to let you know that starting October 1st\, 2021\, in additional to masks\, proof of vaccination will be required for all attendees of in-person performances at the ArtsCenter. \nThis was a difficult decision to make\, however given the risks that the new variant poses to the health of the community\, we believe this organizational mandate is the most sensible measure for the safety of the community. \nAll attendees are required to wear a mask or face covering for this event. \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:The Foreign Landers
DESCRIPTION:The Foreign Landers is a duo hailing from opposite sides of the Atlantic united by their love of  bluegrass and traditional folk music and their love for each other. Together they combine the musical styles of their respective homelands\, along with their instrumental prowess and haunting vocals to create something new. \nIt was more than unlikely circumstances that brought these two together. David Benedict grew  up in South Carolina playing with the only Celtic folk band in town\, while Tabitha Agnew was  perhaps the only 12 year-old in Northern Ireland who started playing the 5-string banjo after a  chance hearing of an Alison Krauss & Union Station record. Ironically\, it took each a while to discover the traditional music of their own countries\, but they eventually came around. Both  excelled at their instruments and found themselves playing with some of the most promising  young acoustic bands on the scene today—David with the Boston-band Mile Twelve and Tabitha  with both Cup O’Joe and Midnight Skyracer from the UK. With such unique common threads\,  there was an instant connection when Tabitha and David finally met. \nNow married and based in the States\, the Benedicts are finally making music on their own. Their  forth-coming debut EP marks the first chapter in their journey together\, and the release of the title  track “Put All Your Troubles Away” will take you along with them to uncharted musical  territories. \n  \nThe Foreign Landers Website > \n  \nDue to the increase of the Delta Variant and the danger it poses\, we are writing to let you know that starting October 1st\, 2021\, in additional to masks\, proof of vaccination will be required for all attendees of in-person performances at the ArtsCenter. \nThis was a difficult decision to make\, however given the risks that the new variant poses to the health of the community\, we believe this organizational mandate is the most sensible measure for the safety of the community. \nAll attendees are required to wear a mask or face covering for this event. \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:Kaki King
DESCRIPTION:Known as one of the greatest guitar innovators of our time\, Kaki King presents MODERN YESTERDAYS\, a refinement of her now signature guitar-projection mapping performance. With technicolor imagination\, technical wizardry\, and carefully choreographed guitar and drum playing\, “she’ll do the unexpected\, every time” (Digital Trends). Bridging future-forward modernity with contemplative longing\, MODERN YESTERDAYS sends us on an audiovisual journey reset by our recent past\, arriving at the emotional place we yearn to visit. \nThe album Modern Yesterdays (released in late 2020 on Cantaloupe Music) derives broadly from the music composed for Data Not Found (DNF)\, Kaki King’s largest-scale and most theatrical performance piece yet. With the post-pandemic performance world ever-evolving\, Kaki King set out to create an analog to Data Not Found\, which can now be found in MODERN YESTERDAYS: an interlocking puzzle piece nimble enough to tour the world in 2021\, and beyond. \n**In Data Not Found\, numerous projection sources\, an enormous tent\, and 1000 pounds of sand were set to tell a story about the traces of things we leave behind in this world.** Unfortunately\, the show’s production came to a halt in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 lockdown. \n  \nHailed by Rolling Stone as “a genre unto herself\,” composer and guitarist Kaki King is a true iconoclast. Kaki King is known for her percussive and jazz-tinged melodies\, energetic live shows\, use of multiple tunings on acoustic and lap steel guitar\, and her diverse range in different genres. Over the past 10 years\, the Brooklyn-based artist has released six extraordinarily diverse and distinctive albums\, and performed with such icons as Foo Fighters and Timbaland. From 2015 to 2019\, The Neck is a Bridge to the Body was Kaki King’s most prolific touring project and adventurous album — a provocative and beautiful piece that directly projects visual art onto her guitar — which\, throughout the course of the piece\, becomes her ontological tabula rasa. She has touched audiences worldwide in innumerable world tours\, playing venues and festivals as diverse as Sydney Opera House\, North Sea Jazz Fest\, the Krannert Center\, The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi\, the Ferst Center For The Arts\, MASS MoCA\, Kennedy Center\, MOMA\, North Sea Jazz Fest\, Vancouver Folk Fest\, Singapore’s Mosaic Festival\, Japan’s Fuji Rock festival\, the Festival of Arts & Ideas\, and more. \n  \nLinks: Website | Facebook | Instagram | Twitter \n  \nDue to the increase of the Delta Variant and the danger it poses\, we are writing to let you know that starting October 1st\, 2021\, in additional to masks\, proof of vaccination will be required for all attendees of in-person performances at the ArtsCenter. \nThis was a difficult decision to make\, however given the risks that the new variant poses to the health of the community\, we believe this organizational mandate is the most sensible measure for the safety of the community. \nAll attendees are required to wear a mask or face covering at in-person shows. \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:Bob Mould Solo Electric: Distortion and Blue Hearts!
DESCRIPTION:Due to the increase of the Delta Variant and the danger it poses\, we are writing to let you know that starting October 1st\, 2021\, in additional to masks\, proof of vaccination will be required for all attendees of in-person performances at the ArtsCenter. \nThis was a difficult decision to make\, however given the risks that the new variant poses to the health of the community\, we believe this organizational mandate is the most sensible measure for the safety of the community. \n  \nDoors open 7pm / Show 8pm \n$24 advanced / $27 day of \n  \nLegendary musician Bob Mould announces his “Distortion and Blue Hearts!” tour starting September 16\, 2021\, in Boston at Paradise. The tour is in two parts. For the first three weeks\, Bob will be joined by Jason Narducy on bass and drummer Jon Wurster. Beginning October 15 in Bloomington\, IL\, Mould will perform “Solo Distortion” electric shows (full run of dates and locations below). \nOn July 16\, 2021\, before any tour dates happen\, Demon Music Group will conclude their year-long Bob Mould retrospective campaign with their fourth vinyl box\, Distortion: Live. The 8 LP set includes live recordings from Mould’s solo career and his band Sugar. \nThis box follows October 2020’s 8 LP Distortion: 1989-1995 vinyl set\, which took in Mould’s early solo outings as well as his records with the much-beloved Sugar\, January 2021’s 9 LP Distortion: 1996-2007 box set continuing through the next steps in Mould’s solo career and his outings as LoudBomb and Blowoff\, April 2021’s 7 LP Distortion 2008-2019 covering District Line to Sunshine Rock\, and the 24 CD Distortion: 1989-2019 box\, which covers the entirety of his post-Hüsker Dü output. \nMould’s live shows will span his entire 40+ year career\, including songs from the Distortion collection and from his landmark band Hüsker Dü\, as well as songs from last year’s explosive and critically acclaimed album Blue Hearts — about which Rolling Stone’s 4 out of 5 star review raved\, “feels like a lost Hüsker Dü album with Mould howling invective over his buzzsawing guitar.” \n“It’s been a year and a half away from the stage. I’ve missed the noise\, the sweat\, and seeing your smiling faces. I’m fully vaccinated\, and I hope you are too\, because this Fall will be a punk rock party with the band — and the solo shows will be loud and proud as well. It’s time to make up lost time\, reconnect\, and celebrate together with live music!” \nAs with the previously released box sets in the Distortion collection\, each album has been mastered by Jeff Lipton and Maria Rice at Peerless Mastering in Boston and is presented with brand new artwork designed by illustrator Simon Marchner and pressed on 140g clear vinyl with unique splatter effects. This box set includes 4 live albums: Live At The Cabaret Metro\, 1989; the Sugar album The Joke Is Always On Us\, Sometimes; LiveDog98 (first time on vinyl)\, and Live at ATP 2008 (first time on vinyl). In addition\, the set includes a 28-page companion booklet featuring liner notes by journalist Keith Cameron; contributions from Bully’s Alicia Bognanno; rare photographs and memorabilia\, and a bonus LP Distortion Plus: Live\, which features live rarities including B-Sides and stand-out tracks from the Circle of Friends concert film. \nDiscover more about the box sets including full track listings and FAQs here:\nhttps://www.demonmusicgroup.co.uk/bob-mould-distortion/ \n \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:ONA
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Odyssey Stage Theatre \nThis country was founded on the principle “all men are created equal” and yet many of the founding idealists owned slaves. \nJoin Odyssey Stage for a special staged reading of “Ona”\, a historical play about Martha Washington’s maid\, who was one of the few slaves to successfully escape from the Washingtons. \nThere will be a moderated conversation after! \n  \nDue to the increase of the Delta Variant and the danger it poses\, we are writing to let you know that starting October 1st\, 2021\, in additional to masks\, proof of vaccination will be required for all attendees of in-person performances at the ArtsCenter. \nThis was a difficult decision to make\, however given the risks that the new variant poses to the health of the community\, we believe this organizational mandate is the most sensible measure for the safety of the community. \nAll attendees are required to wear a mask or face covering for this event. \n\n\n	Related

DESCRIPTION:We are sorry to inform you that the Jonathan Richman with Tommy Larkins performance has been postponed until further notice. Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. \nPresented by Cat’s Cradle\n\nAll attendees must show proof of vaccination from Covid-19. \n\n\nMasks to be worn at all times except when drinking in the lobby. \n\n\n\nAbsolutely no drinking or eating in the performance space. \n\n\nJonathan will stop the show if he sees people unmasked during his performance. \n  \n\n\nThursday\, Feb 10 \n\n\n7 door/  8 show \n\n\n$25 adv / $23 day of show \n  \n\n\n“Richman is one of America’s most unique and dynamic songwriters…” – Nashville Scene “Richman didn’t need much else besides a beat to work his magic.” – New York Daily News \n“Buy tickets early. Buy tickets often. This is just good general life advice\, but even more so when you’re talking about Jonathan Richman. Don’t get denied at the door\, don’t leave things up to chance: You will regret it.” – Nashville Scene \n“Rhymes worthy of Ogden Nash.” – The New York Times \n“Richman has spent decades removing barriers between himself and his audience\, cultivating an intimacy that is almost extinct in modern music.”- Nashville Scene \n“The music we’re doing now works well in quiet places like theaters and performing art centers. We still don’t use a program or a set list so we don’t know what we’ll do until we do it. Please do not expect old songs. Many singers my age do a retrospective; this show is not like that. It’s mostly stuff made up in the last 3 and 4 years. Some of the songs presented might be in different languages; this is not to be esoteric or clever\, it’s because the different languages help me express different feelings sometimes. One last thing\, my idea of a good show has nothing to do with applause. It’s about if all the songs I sang that night were ones that I felt.” – Jonathan \n\n  \nLinks: About | Bandcamp | Blue Arrow Records \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:The Weather Station with Sam Amidon (POSTPONED)
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Cat’s Cradle\n  \nIgnorance\, the forthcoming album by the The Weather Station\, begins enigmatically; a hissing hi hat\, a stuttering drum beat. A full minute passes before the entry of Tamara Lindeman’s voice\, gentle\, conversational\, intoning; “I never believed in the robber”. A jagged music builds\, with stabbing strings\, saxophone\, and several layers of percussion\, and the song undulates through five minutes of growing tension\, seesawing between just two chords. Once again\, Toronto songwriter Tamara Lindeman has remade what The Weather Station sounds like; once again\, she has used the occasion of a new record to create a new sonic landscape\, tailor-made to express an emotional idea. Ignorance\, Lindeman’s debut for Mississippi label Fat Possum Records\, is sensuous\, ravishing\, as hi fi a record as Lindeman has ever made\, breaking into pure pop at moments\, at others a dense wilderness of notes; a deeply rhythmic\, deeply painful record that feels more urgent\, more clear than her work ever has. \n  \nOn the cover\, Lindeman lays in the woods\, wearing a hand made suit covered in mirrors. She was struck by the compulsion to build a mirror suit on tour one summer\, assembling it in a hotel room in PEI and at a friend’s place in Halifax. “I used to be an actor\, now I’m a performer” she says. In those roles\, she points out\, she often finds herself to be the subject of projection\, reflecting back the ideas and emotions of others. On the album\, she sings of trying to wear the world as a kind of ill fitting\, torn garment\, dangerously cold; “it does not keep me warm / I cannot ever seem to fasten it” and of walking the streets in it\, so disguised\, so exposed. Photographed by visual artist Jeff Bierk in midday\, the cover purposefully calls to mind Renaissance paintings; with rich blacks and deep colour\, and an incongruous blue sky glimpsed through the trees. \n  \nThe title of the album\, Ignorance\, feels confrontational\, calling to mind perhaps wilful ignorance\, but Lindeman insists she meant it in a different context. In 1915 Virginia Woolfe wrote: “the future is dark\, which is the best thing a future can be\, I think.” Written amidst the brutal first world war\, the darkness of the future connoted for Woolfe a not knowing\, which by definition holds a sliver of hope; the possibility for something\, somewhere\, to change. In french\, the verb ignorer connotes a humble\, unashamed not knowing\, and it is this ignorance Lindeman refers to here; the blank space at an intersection of hope and despair\, a darkness that does not have to be dark. \n  \nEmerging out of Toronto’s vibrant folk scene\, Lindeman debuted a moody\, introspective sound with her independently released East EP in 2008. Her LP The Line followed in 2009\, expanding on an earthy\, lyrical style\, driven by her distinctive fingerpicked guitar and banjo parts. For the next Weather Station release\, Lindeman worked with friend and collaborator Daniel Romano\, signing with his You’ve Changed Records label to release the critically acclaimed follow-up\, All of It Was Mine\, in 2011. Though the album was only released in Canada\, it gained wider exposure for the Weather Station\, leading to several North American tours with acts like Bahamas\, Basia Bulat\, and Timber Timbre\, as well as a tour of Japan. In addition to collaborative guest appearances on releases by Doug Paisley\, Siskiyou\, and Field Report\, Lindeman earned a SOCAN Songwriting Prize nomination in 2013 for a co-write with Steven Lambke of the Constantines.

SUMMARY:Oshima Brothers
DESCRIPTION:Maine-based indie duo\, Oshima Brothers’ have been creating music together since childhood.\nThe brothers blend songs from the heart with blood harmonies to produce a “roots-based pop\nsound that is infectious.” (NPR) On stage\, Sean and Jamie offer lush vocals\, live looping\, foot\npercussion\, electric and acoustic guitars\, vintage keyboard and bass – often all at once. They\nwant every show to feel like a deep breath\, a dance party and a sonic embrace. When not\nrecording or touring they find time to film and produce their own music videos\, tie their own\nshoes and cook elaborate feasts. Maine Public Radio’s Sara Willis describes their songs as\n“beautiful\, those brother harmonies can’t be beat. They are uplifting and\, let’s face it\, we\nneed uplifting these days.” \n\n\nFor more information on Oshima Brothers\, visit oshimabrothers.com. \n  \n\n  \nDue to the spread of the Delta Variant starting October 1\, 2021\, The ArtsCenter will be requiring proof of vaccination and masks (as per state-mandate) for anyone who attends our ArtSchool classes and in-person performances. DESCRIPTION:The ArtsCenter’s perennial favorite (this will be their 26th time here at The ArtsCenter!)\, the Tannahill Weavers have spent a half-century as Scotland’s premiere folk band\, combining traditional melodies with driving rhythmic accompaniment and rich vocals to win fans beyond the folk and Celtic music scenes. Celebrating their golden anniversary\, they show no signs of slowing down. In 2014 the band was joined by innovative piper Lorne MacDougall\, who has arranged and performed pipes for many projects including the Disney Pixar movie Brave and Dreamworks’ How to Train Your Dragon 2. Firmly established as one of the premier Celtic groups on the concert stage\, they bring their enthusiasm and lively spirits to material that ranges from reflective ballads to foot-stomping reels and jigs. \n  \nTannahill Weavers website > \n  \n\n  \nDue to the spread of the Delta Variant starting October 1\, 2021\, The ArtsCenter will be requiring proof of vaccination and masks (as per state-mandate) for anyone who attends our ArtSchool classes and in-person performances. This was not an easy decision to make however as a leading community organization\, The ArtsCenter has a responsibility to the whole community and feel this mandate is the most sensible safety measure. \nThank you \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:*POSTPONED* Aoife O’Donovan with Taylor Ashton
DESCRIPTION:*** This event has been postponed. Already purchased tickets will honored for the new date (TBA). Please contact our Box Office at boxoffice@artscenterlive.org with any questions. ***\nCalled “a vocalist of unerring instinct” by the New York Times\, O’Donovan is one of the most sought after vocalists and songwriters of her generation and has collaborated with some of the most eminent names in music across a wide variety of genres. Co-founder of the bands Crooked Still and I’m With Her\, O’Donovan is the featured vocalist on The Goat Rodeo Sessions\, the Grammy-winning album by Yo-Yo Ma\, Stuart Duncan\, Edgar Meyer\, and Chris Thile. Her new project Songs and Strings includes the song cycle “Bull Frogs Croon” which uses stunning text by the late\, and former Poet Laureate of Oregon\, Peter Sears\, as well as traditional favorites and songs from her expansive career. \n  \nAoife O’Donovan website > \n  \n\n  \nBorn in the last year of the 1980s\, Taylor Ashton grew up surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and the old growth rainforests of Canada’s west coast. His songs are inspired by the primeval crookedness of traditional old-time music\, the humor and heartbreak of Randy Newman\, the cosmic emotionality of mid-career Joni Mitchell\, and the sage vulnerability of Bill Withers. Somehow\, he finds a way to make this all work on the clawhammer banjo. He spent most of late teens and 20s as the frontman of Vancouver-based five-piece Fish & Bird\, releasing four albums of heady progressive folk and gracing stages like the Winnipeg Folk fest\, the Vancouver Folk Fest\, and Glasgow’s Celtic Connections festival. In the past few years he has increasingly spent his days in New York City. His most recent release finds him swapping songs with Grammy-nominated songwriter and guitarist Courtney Hartman\, on the pair’s 2018 duo album Been On Your Side. The album is an acoustic\, stripped-down affair\, which Rolling Stone had to admit\, “packs a punch in today’s mainstream”. \n  \nTaylor Ashton website > \n  \n\n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:James McMurtry with Bonnie Whitmore [SOLD OUT!]
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Cat’s Cradle\n\nAUSTIN\, Texas — In James McMurtry’s new effort\, The Horses and the Hounds\, the acclaimed songwriter backs personal narratives with effortless elegance (“Canola Fields”) and endless energy (“If It Don’t Bleed”). This first collection in seven years\, due August 20 on New West Records\, spotlights a seasoned tunesmith in peak form as he turns toward reflection (“Vaquero”) and revelation ( closer “Blackberry Winter”). Familiar foundations guide the journey. “There’s a definite Los Angeles vibe to this record\,” McMurtry says. “The ghost of Warren Zevon seems to be stomping around among the guitar tracks. Don’t know how he got in there. He never signed on for work for hire.” \n  \nThe Horses and the Hounds is a reunion of sorts. McMurtry recorded the new album with legendary producer Ross Hogarth (John Fogerty\, Van Halen\, Keb’ Mo’) at Jackson Browne’s Groovemaster’s in Santa Monica\, California\, a world class studio that has housed such legends as Bob Dylan (2012’s Tempest) and David Crosby (2016’s Lighthouse) as well as Browne himself for I’m Alive (1993) and New Found Glory\, Coming Home (2006). McMurtry and Hogarth first worked together 30 years ago\, when Hogarth was a recording engineer in the employ of John Mellencamp at Mellencamp’s own Belmont Studios near Bloomington\, Indiana. Hogarth recorded McMurtry’s first two albums\, Too Long in the Wasteland and Candyland\, for Columbia Records and later mixed McMurtry’s first self-produced album\, Saint Mary of the Woods\, for Sugar Hill Records. Another veteran of those three releases\, guitarist David Grissom (Joe Ely\, John Mellencamp\, Dixie Chicks)\, returns with some of his finest work. \n \nAccordingly\, the new collection marks another upward trajectory: The Horses and the Hounds will be McMurtry’s debut album on genre-defining Americana record label New West Records (Steve Earle\, Rodney Crowell\, Lucinda Williams\, John Hiatt\, Aaron Lee Tasjan\, Buddy Miller\, dozens more). \n  \n“I first became aware of James McMurtry’s formidable songwriting prowess while working at Bug Music Publishing in the ’90s\,” says New West president John Allen. “He’s a true talent. All of us at New West are excited at the prospect of championing the next phase of James’ already successful and respected career.” McMurtry perfectly fits a label housing “artists who perform real music for real people.” After all\, No Depression says of the literate songwriter’s most recent collection\, Complicated Game: “Lyrically\, the album is wise and adventurous\, with McMurtry — who’s not prone to autobiographical tales — credibly inhabiting characters from all walks of life.” “[McMurtry] fuses wry\, literate observations about the world with the snarl of barroom rock\,” National Public Radio says. “The result is at times sardonic\, subversive and funny\, but often vulnerable and always poignant.” \n  \nHis lauded storytelling — check out songs such as “Operation Never Mind” and “Ft. Walton Wake-Up Call” on The Horse and the Hounds— consistently has turned heads for decades now. “James writes like he’s lived a lifetime\,” said John Mellencamp back in 1989\, when Too Long in the Wasteland hit the Billboard 200. “James McMurtry is one of my very few favorite songwriters on Earth and these days he’s working at the top of his game\,” says Americana all-star Jason Isbell. “He has that rare gift of being able to make a listener laugh out loud at one line and choke up at the next. I don’t think anybody writes better lyrics.” McMurtry’s albums Just Us Kids (2008) and Childish Things (2005) back the claim\, each scoring endless critical praise. The former earned McMurtry his highest Billboard 200 chart position in two decades (since eclipsed by Complicated Game) and notched Americana Music Award nominations. Childish Things spent six full weeks topping the Americana Music Radio chart in 2005 and 2006\, and won the Americana Music Association’s Album of the Year\, with “We Can’t Make It Here” named the organization’s Song of the Year. \n  \nOther accolades include a 1996 Grammy nomination for Long Form Music Video for Where’d You Hide the Body and an American Indie Award for Best Americana Album for It Had to Happen (1997).  \n  \nMcMurtry tours year-round and consistently throws down unparalleled powerhouse performances\, reflected in the release of two live discs: the universally lauded Live in Aught-Three on Compadre Records\, and 2009’s Live in Europe\, which captured the McMurtry band’s first European tour and extraordinary live set. Along with seasoned band members Ronnie Johnson\, Daren Hess\, and Tim Holt\, Live in Europe features special guests Ian McLagan (Faces) and Jon Dee Graham (True Believers\, Skunks). (Video of the performance is available on the included DVD.) \n  \n“Lyircally gritty\, musically gutsy\, go tell ‘em all…we need James McMurtry bringin’ us more.” —Andrew Farrris\, INXS \n  \n“James McMurtry may be the truest\, fiercest songwriter of his generation” ‑—Stephen King \nLinks: Website | Facebook | Twitter \n  \nDue to the increase of the Delta Variant and the danger it poses\, we are writing to let you know that starting October 1st\, 2021\, in additional to masks\, proof of vaccination will be required for all attendees of in-person performances at the ArtsCenter. \nThis was a difficult decision to make\, however given the risks that the new variant poses to the health of the community\, we believe this organizational mandate is the most sensible measure for the safety of the community. \nAll attendees are required to wear a mask or face covering for this event. \n\n\n	Related
