SUMMARY:Affordable Housing: The Musical
DESCRIPTION:“Affordable Housing: The Musical” blends powerful stories and good-humored satire to reset the conversation about affordable housing in our community (and have some fun while doing it!).\nSet in the fictional town of Church Mound\, “Affordable Housing: The Musical” is an original musical rooted in the lived experiences of participants — many of whom have faced immense challenges finding affordable and safe housing in Orange County. Joined by grassroots allies\, members and advocates of the Community Empowerment Fund came together to create this musical from scratch — aiming to bring these stories to bear on local dialogue about affordable housing. Learn more.\nThis production is made possible with the partnership and support of Carolina Performing Arts.\n\nJoin for a pre-show event at Davis Library created by Carolina Planning!\nThe musical will premiere in concert with the opening of “In the Shadows of Ferguson\,” an immersive multi-media installation that tells a story about our racially divided spatial world. Using St. Louis as the setting\, this show will share stories about the damaging effects of housing and urban policy on the daily lives of African Americans. Hear about redlining\, restrictive covenants\, municipal fragmentation\, subsidized housing\, and how these policies created the environment where Mike Brown Jr. was shot to death. \nThe installation will be free and open to the public at Davis Library on UNC’s campus with special hours so that musical guests can visit prior to attending the performance. Visit installation on Nov. 23rd from 4-7pm or Nov. 24th from 1-4pm. For more information\, visit: https://www.facebook.com/ShadowsofFerguson/\n\n\n\nFAQs\n1.   What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?\nCURRENT ArtSpace is located in Downtown Chapel Hill\, and highly accessible by public transit. SUMMARY:Tiny Luxuries created by Heather Tatreau
DESCRIPTION:Tiny Luxuries is an experimental dance-theater piece created for The Process Series by Heather Tatreau with support from the UNC College of Arts and Sciences\, Carolina Performing Arts\, and a grant from The Orange County Arts Commission. This original production is based upon Clarice Lispector’s 1977 novella\, The Hour of the Star. Through the rich combination of text and movement\, a visceral study of relationships and the quest for happiness emerge. An eccentric cast of characters construct the identity of Macabéa\, a poor typist from the slums who longs to be pretty. Will she find her voice to contribute to her own existence before her time runs out? What if happiness is not as neat and pretty as we think? \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:Robin Frohardt's Plastic Bag Store
DESCRIPTION:This is no ordinary store: All of the products that line the shelves are just plastic bags. There are bottles of bags\, cans of bags\, boxes of bags\, and\, of course\, bags of bags\, each product an original design\, made from discarded plastic stuffed inside other discarded plastic\, creating an endless cacophony of packaging.\n \nAt night this store comes to life with live performers\, dynamic sets\, hidden worlds and inventive puppetry to tell a darkly comedic\, sometimes tender story that explores how the plastic refuse we are leaving behind might be misinterpreted by future generations. Plastic Bag Store is a tragicomic ode to the foreverness of plastic.\n \nThe Plastic Bag Store installation will be free and open to the public from September 14-23 (closed on September 17). \n\n\n	Related
