DESCRIPTION:Are you a mid-career crafts-person struggling to leave your day job or a new-to-the biz creative with dollar signs in your eyes?  \nJoin Triangle ArtWorks’ experienced instructors in an intensive business school-style experience aimed at you. From business structures to support systems\, from credit cards to cash flow\, this course will walk you through the process of creating a craft business that makes money. Each week you’ll work on activities and projects that lead you to a clear vision of your business and a business plan. You’ll leave the class with a binder full of worksheets\, ideas\, contacts and checklists and be energized to make your craft business succeed. \nThis course is based on the REAL Entrepreneurship courses program and is a hands-on\, activity-based experience. If you’ve tried to understand business principles before and been bored or frustrated\, this is for you. If you want tools to understand your own craft business better\, this is for you. You will learn to become a better networker\, how to set up a solid business structure\, and about financial structures that can help you make better business decisions. Course topics will include cash flow\, production\, costs and pricing\, inventory\, local resources\, sales and promotions and more. This free information session will cover the three new programs created from the CARES act: Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA)\, Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (PUC)\, and Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC). We will also cover new paid leave benefits created by the FFCRA\, as well as options related to workplace health and safety concerns with reopening. Even as some sectors of the economy open up\, most critique groups in our area are still paused. Regular critical examinations of your work are important for artistic growth and development. Being pushed and questioned on artistic choices is invaluable as you build your art career. \nThis first critique will be casual and peer-to-peer. We will be conducting it as a zoom meeting\, so you will be able to talk and see other participants. To join the critique\, you’ll need to submit 3-5 images of ONE work you want to discuss in advance. Why are we asking you to submit photos? With variances in web camera quality\, lighting and internet connections\, live video images rarely offer the level of detail needed to view art. Read our photo submission tips below. \nWho can join? This virtual critique is limited to visual craft artists. Artists at all career stages are welcome.
