It features the music of national and regional artists along with the music of Martha Bassett. \n  \nCOLIN ALLURED – Colin Allured is a multi-instrumentalist who offers a truly unique performance experience. He supports his intricately crafted songs with a visually fascinating and self styled footdrum set up and technique. This lifts the many styles and grooves of his songs into the sonic sphere of a full band. Yet the intimacy of the solo artist and the warmth of his lush baritone voice carry the sound. He graduated from the UNC School of the Arts in classical guitar studies\, has studied West African string music\, Indian classical music and has his roots in his dad’s 60s records. The devotion and refinement of his musicianship is all in service of great songs\, danceable beats and a soulful vibe. \n  \nLYN KOONCE – A recent winner of American Songwriter Magazine’s Lyric Contest for her song\, The River\, singer/songwriter Lyn Koonce\, engages audiences with her warmth and authenticity often turning heads from the first song. From ballads to blues\, Lyn’s music is skillful\, unique\, yet universal. It creates traction and stays with you long after the performance. It features the music of national and regional artists along with the music of Martha Bassett. \n  \nVIOLET BELL – As two humans navigating life together\, Ross and Ruiz-Lopez are present; the only moment is now and the only location is here. As a band\, as North Carolina progressive folk duo Violet Bell\, they are present; a recording is not expected to be the platonic ideal\, the authoritative version of a song\, but just one brief window of its lifetime. And that sense of letting go and leaning in\, of accepting that spirit and heart count far more than the myth of the perfect take\, is central to Violet Bell’s debut LP\, Honey in My Heart. \nCHATHAM RABBITS – North Carolina is a place so identifiable by its separate regions – the mountains\, the piedmont\, the coast – that it has the tendency to feel indescribable\, meaning one can conceptualize the state as a mashup of places rather than a single locale. The art and artists born from the state often embody that same sense of blended regions\, borrowing from broad cultural traditions and plumbing the histories of others’ stories on the way to telling their own. Because of this\, many North Carolina artists can call a particular region home\, but their work belongs to the state because the entirety of the state has opened itself to them and they have opened themselves to it. It features the music of national and regional artists along with the music of Martha Bassett. \n  \nJILL ANDREWS – From her days fronting lauded Americana group\, the everbodyfields\, to her successful solo career as a writer and performer\, Andrews’ music has taken her far from her East Tennessee home. She has collaborated and shared the stage with countless celebrated artists including the Avett Brothers\, Langhorne Slim\, Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors and the Secret Sisters\, and her music has been featured on Grey’s Anatomy\, The Good Wife\, Nashville\, Wynonna Earp and American Idol. Featuring emotional melodies\, intimate storytelling and vocals that soar even at a whisper\, her latest album Thirties is a deviation\, it resists contemplating the big\, loud questions of the world\, and rather\, invites listeners to look inward\, keeping us closer to home than ever before. \n  \nROD ABERNETHY – Rod makes his home in the Triangle of North Carolina and is the 2019 Grand Prize Winner of American Songwriter’s Bob Dylan Song Contest. His double album “The Man I’m Supposed To Be” reached No.9 in June 2018 on Folk Alliance International’s Folk DJ Chart. He has also been a featured showcase artist at many Folk Alliance International Conferences around the country. He’s a unique blend of authentic southern folk troubadour\, master acoustic guitarist and award-winning soundtrack composer for film\, TV and video games. \nRod has returned to his early roots writing both songs and instrumentals that harken back to his early folk artist days with new songs that revolve around family\, friends and places across his home state of North Carolina and the Deep South. His latest album\, “Normal Isn’t Normal Anymore\,” was released in 2021. \n  \nJOE THRIFT & RUSSELL MCCUMBER – Along with their dynamic and delightful music making\, Joe Thrift and Russell McCumber are both master luthiers. Russell & Joe are regulars on the show and they brought some wonderful traditional fiddle music to this one. \nJoe Thrift is a violin maker and fiddler who has steeped himself in all aspects of the instrument. Born in Winston-Salem\, Joe grew up in a family that was sympathetic to his musical interests. His father was a pipe organ builder\, and his mother an organist and choir director. In the early 1970s\, Joe became interested in building instruments and playing music. \nRussell grew up in Vermont and has played violin since early childhood\, beginning his training in the classical style and later focusing on traditional fiddle styles.
