SUMMARY:The Redbud Winter Gala and Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:The Redbud Writing Project is a creative writing nonprofit serving adults in Raleigh\, Durham\, and Chapel Hill. We bring the life-changing power of creative writing to the general public: we believe that everybody\, not just those who can afford it\, deserves access to the arts and to the tools necessary to tell their story. \nAs part of our fundraising drive for 2024\, we’d like to invite you to our Garden Gala\, an evening of literary magic. At the gala\, we’ll have food\, drink (both alcoholic and non)\, a silent auction featuring literary prizes as well as prizes donated by local businesses\, a live auction\, music\, and a reading showcase featuring five students who took Redbud classes during our fall programming. \nWe can’t wait to see you there! \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:Writing the Novel with the Redbud Writing Project
DESCRIPTION:Thanks to a generous grant from the Orange County Arts Commission\, we are offering a free-to-participants Writing the Novel class in Chapel Hill during our Aug-Sept 2023 round. Here are the details: \nDescription: This is a craft and workshop hybrid class for students who are interested in learning more about writing novels. Discussions will include short story pacing versus novel pacing; identifying whether an idea is better suited for a novel or a short story; coming up with ideas for novels; the essential elements of a novel; outlining novels; and more. We will read and discuss two short novels in this course\, and by the end of the course\, all students will have written\, workshopped\, and polished a first chapter of a novel\, and will leave the course with a roadmap for how to complete their book. \nWho is eligible? This class is intended for Orange County residents who identify as marginalized and/or under-represented\, which can mean that you identify as low-income\, queer/genderqueer\, and/or BIPOC. \n\n\n	Related
