DESCRIPTION:Part One: Titles and Beginning Lines \nTitle are doors that open onto poems. They’re the first hint at what’s to come\, the bait that lures readers in. The beginning lines of the poem then either hook readers or cause them to slip away. In Part One of this two-part workshop\, we’ll look at strategies for titling poems in ways that make readers eager to step through the door\, as well as tools for creating opening lines that keep readers reading. We’ll talk about how titles and beginning lines interact (or don’t) and consider how\, taken together\, they set the stage for the poem’s progress through to its ending. \nNote: If you can’t attend the first workshop\, you’re still welcome to attend the second and can view the first workshop if you like on the library’s website.
