DESCRIPTION:The Commons is a new initiative devoted to supporting performance artists and fostering local creative community and discourse in and around the Triangle\, in partnership with UNC Summer Arts\, UNC Department of Communication\, and INDY WEEK. Three performing artists/artist groups were selected for proposals that particularly challenged performance conventions\, invited audience co-creation\, took artistic risks\, and demonstrated pressing timeliness for this community in this moment. The artists have been in residence and hard at work at CURRENT since May 7 and will show their works there May 30-June 1. Tickets are only $5 and are available here: \nMegan Yankee\, Qué gringa\, que gringa (excerpt: On the Wretched Narrow): https://www.eventbrite.com/e/que-gringa-que-gringa-excerpt-on-the-wretched-narrow-tickets-62067306986 \nJustin Tornow\, Performance as Responsive Practice: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/performance-as-responsive-practice-tickets-62141784751 \nEb. SUMMARY:Robin Frohardt's Plastic Bag Store
DESCRIPTION:This is no ordinary store: All of the products that line the shelves are just plastic bags. There are bottles of bags\, cans of bags\, boxes of bags\, and\, of course\, bags of bags\, each product an original design\, made from discarded plastic stuffed inside other discarded plastic\, creating an endless cacophony of packaging.\n \nAt night this store comes to life with live performers\, dynamic sets\, hidden worlds and inventive puppetry to tell a darkly comedic\, sometimes tender story that explores how the plastic refuse we are leaving behind might be misinterpreted by future generations. Plastic Bag Store is a tragicomic ode to the foreverness of plastic.\n \nThe Plastic Bag Store installation will be free and open to the public from September 14-23 (closed on September 17). \n\n\n	Related
